๐Ÿ“ Introduction

Mashed sweet potatoes can serve as a nutritious, filling, and economical addition to many meals. While you can also bake or roast sweet potatoes to soften them, boiling helps retain their moisture, which prepares them well for mashing.ย 

๐Ÿง‚ Ingredients & Equipment:

  • 2 sweet potatoes/yams

  • Veggie Scrubber (like these) or a clean scouring pad (like these)

  • Large fork or potato masher (like this)ย 

โœ”๏ธ Instructions:ย 

  1. Boil water in a large pot & season to tasteย 

  2. Rinse potatoes & scrub off dirtย ย 

  3. Add to water. Let cook ~20 min or until a knife easily pierces the skinย 

  4. Remove & drain. Let cool or rinse with cold water. Remove skins.ย ย 

  5. Mash with a fork or potato masherย 

  6. Add oil/butter & salt (optional)ย 

๐Ÿ“ Notes, Tips, Tricks

  • To prep sweet potato cubes instead, remove skins with a veggie peeler, chop into cubes and boil until tender. 1-inch cubes will take 12-15 min, 2-inch cubes 20-25 min.
