📍 Introduction:

Knowing how to make a straightforward yet tasty house salad adds health, flavor, and flair to a quick dinner. This classic vinaigrette is 3 parts oil, 1 part vinegar, salt, and pepper. By adding a tad bit of mustard, everything emulsifies and melds together. Try the recipe below to practice your dressing & salad-making skills. For bonus points, get creative & add something new to the mix!

🧂 Dressing Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon mustard

  • 1-2 pinches of kosher salt (or to taste)

  • Black pepper (optional, to taste)

🥗 Salad Ingredients:

  • Greens - ideally 2+ different types for textural variety

  • Veggies - ideally 2-3 (e.g., tomatoes & cucumber)

  • Croutons (optional)

✔️ Instructions:

  1. Add all dressing ingredients into a jar; shake vigorously

  2. Taste by dipping a piece of lettuce in the dressing; adjust flavoring as necessary

  3. Prepare greens & veggies

  4. Pour in half the dressing & toss gently

  5. Taste & season. Add more dressing if desired.

📓 Notes Tips & Tricks:

  • For more delicate greens toss right before serving, or the leaves may wilt

  • Sturdier greens like kale and chard can be dressed up to an hour in advance of serving.

  • When tossing with spoons, try to use wooden or plastic - metal utensils can bruise the leaves

  • Using your hands allows you to gently and evenly coat each leaf of lettuce. Don’t over-toss or the greens may bruise or wilt
